Google has changed the rules for getting high-rankings for your "location specific" web pages.
A lot of people have been complaining lately that their high-ranking Google pages that have cities, states and other locations associated with their keyword phrases have disappeared from Google's rankings. It has happened to me too. I have one site that has information for each state. I used to have a high ranking for most state searches. (For example, "Texas keyword phrase.") Now my state rankings have all but disappeared. If this has happened to you and you only have one location (like "Dallas flower shops," then I would recommend that you WAIT and see if Google soon puts you back near where you were. Many times this is what happens with Google. In other words, I wouldn't make changes just yet. But, since I have 50 states to play with, I am going to do some testing and try different techniques on some of my different state's information pages to see what I can find out about the new rules. Of course, I am going to keep many of the state pages as they are as part of the test. I will be posting an article soon with the results of these tests. I will let you know what I find out about Google's new rules for getting high rankings for location-type keyword phrases and how you can use these new rules.
