Are you getting the most out of your Title tags?

The title tag for most sites is greatly under used or misused. Here are the three most important things you need to check for to see if your Title tag is working hard for you:

1. The first four words in your Title tag should include your most important keywords or keyword phrases.

2. Google only shows the first 62 characters and spaces in their search results. This is what a searcher sees when deciding whether to click on the link and go visit your site.

3. Have a different Title tag for every page. Do NOT use the same Title tag for every page. Having the same Title tag for pages is like having duplicate content. This could hurt your ranking.

To find out if you have duplicate Title tags, check each page or log into Google's Webmaster Tools and check the Optimization Improvements section

That's it for this week.
